If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Best, Police Officer Nisbett Neighborhood Coordination Officer Our 104th Precinct NCO, PO Nisbett, wants to alert folks to an incident that occurred on Friday, September 18th,
Approximately 11:00 pm, two males wearing construction vests, in a truck, removed pipes that were not secured by the contractor at 70th Street and 52nd Drive. The pipes were being used for the sewer project. We all know by now that the construction stops anywhere between 4:00-6:00 pm and no work is done on the weekends. If you see suspicious activity at any construction site after the men have left for the day, call 911 and let the NYPD check it out. You won't get in trouble if you're mistaken and the contractor will be happy folks are looking out for the material. We don't want the construction delayed and we do want the perpetrators caught. Stay healthy and alert!! Good Afternoon All,

Police Officer Christian Martinez New York City Police Department 110 Precinct, Neighborhood Coordination Officer Assembly Member Barnwell wants to remind you about what to do should your property get damaged during a city project. This issue came up last night at a Zoom meeting with regard to the infamous sewer project but it pertains to any city project.
Anybody that suffers damage during construction, should immediately do/be aware of the following: 1) File a notice of claim with the NYC comptroller’s office within 90 days of the damage. However, note that the comptroller’s office takes a very long time to decide whether or not to approve your claim (THEY CAN DENY your claim) ALSO IT IS VERY IMPORTANT and NECESSARY that to preserve your claim, you must file a lawsuit in court against the City of New York within 1 year and 90 days of the damage. You should speak to an attorney regarding your claim/damages. 2) File a claim with DDC (Department of Design & Construction) 3) Ask DDC for the name of their contractor, and the insurance information of their contractor. File a claim with the contractor’s insurance company. We just heard one of our members who said his car, that was parked in his driveway, was ransacked and a duffle bag full of dirty clothes was stolen. He said for some reason the car door was unlocked. This occurred at 5:00 am on the 108th Precinct side of Calamus Avenue.
Please check your car doors manually and don't trust the automatic lock mechanism because the same thing happened to one of our members on 70th Street not too long ago. His car was parked in the driveway and he was adamant his doors were locked. Don't leave anything visible inside the car. |
