Important message from COMET: We all need to get involved to keep our neighborhood strong and safe. Your input is crucial to help find ways to help the NYPD address concerns in our community.

Hello,

The NYPD officers serving your community invite you to a discussion of the public safety challenges in our NYPD neighborhood.

With neighborhood policing, the Neighborhood Coordination Officers (NCOs), and Steady Sector Officers who work with them, have been given more time and opportunity to collaborate with residents in identifying and solving local quality of life conditions and crime concerns. The same officers are assigned to our community each day, so these officers learn the neighborhood, its challenges and potential, and the people who call it home.

This is a new way of doing business for the NYPD, and we need your help to make it work. We want to hear from a broad range of voices about what it will take to make all residents of our neighborhood feel safe and secure. Please join us for what we hope will be a lively and productive discussion.

Meeting Date: 5/22/2022

Meeting Time: Meeting Starts at 7:00 PM
Meeting Site: 64-02 Catalpa (Zoom) See attached

Sincerely,

NYPD Administration

Good afternoon,

We would like to update you on the shooting that took place yesterday afternoon near Maspeth High School.  At approximately 1:30 pm officers responded to calls for a male student shot in the arm, in vicinity of 74 Street and Grand Avenue.  Upon officers arrival the victim was brought  into the school where aid was rendered. The  victim was later removed to Elmhurst Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released. The two individuals responsible for the shooting fled the scene on a moped.  At this time there is one arrest made in connection with this incident.  This investigation is currently still ongoing at this time.  If anyone has information please contact the 104th Precinct.

Arrests made in Elmhurst

5/6/2022

We want to thank the 110th Precinct for their response and hope their actions will send a clear message to perpetrators that crime will not be tolerated in our community.
  • On Wednesday, May 4th, the 110th Precinct executed a search warrant for the vacant storefront located at 81-05 Queens Boulevard. Community watchdogs had alerted the 110th Precinct when they observed suspicious individuals going in and out of the vacant space. As a result of the search warrant, 10 people were arrested for illegal gambling and the machines were vouchered. The police are still investigating possible other illegal activity that may have been going on at the location. Great job by the police and community! If you see something, say something!
  • Yesterday, Thursday, May 5th, at about 7:30 pm, the 110th Precinct received a call stating that when a shoplifter was leaving Macy's a security guard tried to stop him, a struggle ensued and the guard was stabbed. The guard was left with a half-inch wound as a result of the stabbing. The 110th Precinct responded immediately and the perpetrator fled across Queens Boulevard where he was arrested in the vicinity of Hilllyer Street/51st Avenue. All available police units responded to the call because it involved a security guard.
