Hi All,
At the request of area residents, COMET submitted a request for a one-way street pattern for northern Maspeth. Residents state that the narrow streets make it difficult for cars, school buses or commercial trucks to pass one another and there have been numerous incidents where parked cars were side-swiped or had their mirrors knocked off. Last year during the snowstorm DSNY had to contend with oncoming traffic while plowing. Some residents on and in the vicinity of Calamus Avenue also requested a study of the the streets bounded by 71st to 74th Streets between 51st and Calamus Avenue to help reduce traffic flow and deter commercial vehicles from cutting through their streets. This study was incorporated into the northern Maspeth study since these streets run through Maspeth and Woodside. We will keep you updated about any upcoming meetings being held by Community Boards 2 & 5 regarding this issue. See attached letter from NYC DOT. Advisory Notice* *See attached* Hi All,
As many of you already know we have a burglary pattern in Maspeth extending to the Woodside border. This is happening not far from Elmhurst so we all need to be vigilant. Captain Mastronardi, 104th Precinct gave us the following rundown of burglaries:
Roe Daraio, President COMET Civic Association www.cometcivic.com Hi All,
Captain Ventre, 110th Precinct, wants to alert the community about four burglaries that occurred this past Saturday into Sunday, 2143-2330 hours. Three burglaries occurred at 87-XX 57th Avenue and the other burglary occurred in close proximity at 87-XX 57th Avenue. Jewelry, clothing and currency was taken. All the burglaries were rear entry - either tampering with the window frame or locks/hinges on back doors. We are asking folks in the area to check their security cameras and if you see something suspicious you can either let me know or you contact the 110th Precinct squad directly. If you are interested in having a free security survey conducted, please call the 110th Precinct and leave a message for your Crime Prevention Officer. Roe Daraio, President COMET Civic Association www.cometcivic.com Hi All,
Captain Forgione, 108th Precinct, called to let us know that they arrested an individual breaking into cars in the vicinity of 50th Avenue/68th Street at approximately 3:00 am this past Saturday.
