Hi All,
I know many folks are concerned about the proposal for a zoning change to make way for a huge development project on Queens Boulevard at 69th Street, Woodside. See page 2 of Community Board 2's agenda (attached) where it states they will be holding a public hearing. This is the time for you to speak up!! We thank Community Board 2 for informing us about the hearing. We thought folks would like to see the article about what the developer is planning for Queens Boulevard/69th Street. https://sunnysidepost.com/developer-plans-on-building-561-unit-complex-on-queens-boulevard-in-woodside Roe Daraio, President COMET Civic Association www.cometcivic.comWe thought folks would like to see the article about what the developer is planning for Queens Boulevard/69th Street. https://sunnysidepost.com/developer-plans-on-building-561-unit-complex-on-queens-boulevard-in-woodside Hi All,
A couple of west Maspeth residents have heard drag racing this past weekend. One person heard it around midnight on Friday and the other resident heard it both Friday and Saturday nights about the same time. I live in northern Maspeth and heard loud engines revving about 10:00 pm on Friday night. I assumed the noise came from the McDonald's parking lot since in the past drag racers met up there, but I haven't received any complaints and can't confirm where the noise came from. Since the drag racing is oftentimes on the border, I reached out to both the 104th and 108th Precincts. Captain Forgione, 108th Precinct, responded and said it has been going on for the past couple of weeks and they are addressing it. PO Diaz, Community Affairs, said the racing is taking place along Review Avenue which is a distance from our area. If you hear drag racing, please report it so our precincts can address it before it gets out of hand. Be sure to provide the days/times/location it's occurring. Roe Daraio, President COMET Civic Association www.cometcivic.com Hi All,
Captain Mastronardi, 104th Precinct, wants to alert the community about a group of teens shooting at each other at 69th Place and the Queens Midtown Expressway last night at ~11:45pm. A motorist passing by had his window shattered. There were no injuries and the bad guys fled. The investigation is ongoing. If anyone has any information please contact the 104th Precinct Squad immediately!! Roe Daraio, President COMET Civic Association www.cometcivic.com Hi All,
Below is a message from DOT Queens Deputy Commissioner Jason Banrey regarding the one-way street proposal for northern Maspeth. Please note that the accident data provided to us by NYPD below for approximately three years is much higher than DOT's statistics for five years. We are hopeful this information will be helpful when Community Board 5's Transportation Committee holds their Public Hearing. Roe Daraio, President COMET Civic Association www.cometcivic.com Good afternoon, DOT has conducted an evaluation of street directional changes in Maspeth, Queens. The proposed changes are to address safety concerns due to narrow widths of the streets in the area. The proposal would create an alternating street grid network and help in reducing vehicle/pedestrian, vehicle/vehicle conflicts as well as reduce congestion and grid lock intersections. Here is a link to the proposal:http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/downloads/pdf/maspeth-area-wide-mar2018.pdf Additionally here is a link to the agency’s the Vision Zero Map: https://www.nycvzv.info Here, folks can look up crash data, street designs, street speed limits and details about the agency’s outreach. NYC Street Permit Management :https://nycstreets.net/public/permit/search Here folks can look up active permits at specified locations by entering in the address, location or permit number. DOT Customer Service Request Page:http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/contact/customer-service.shtml Here folks can make requests for speed humps, traffic signals, signal timing inspections etc. If a request is entered within the Maspeth area where this project proposal’s parameters please feel free to flag them directly with our office to incorporate into our analysis. Vision Zero Input Map: https://www1.nyc.gov/site/visionzero/maps-data/maps-data.page The Vision Zero map public input period concluded on July 31, 2014. NYCDOT is now analyzing the over 10,000 comments submitted and shown here for inclusion in the City's Vision Zero borough safety action plans which will be released later this year. Here you can see feedback the feedback that was provided by neighbors in your area. Please let us know if you have any questions and please feel free to share this information as well as my contact information with folks in the community. Jason Banrey Deputy Borough Commissioner ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NYPD Accident Data In regards to your inquiry I did some research and found 19 accidents in the vicinity of Calamus Ave (6 in the 104 PCT and 13 in the 108 PCT). For the grid of 71 St to 74 St, Grand Ave to 51 Ave I found 119 accidents. (80 in the 104 PCT and 39 in the 108 PCT) I went from 2015 to present because a majority of the accident reports on DAS Lite prior to then have incomplete information or do not appear in the system at all. Any accident from approximately March 15, 2016 onward is available digitally on the FORMS database. Hi All,
See the attached quarterly newsletter regarding the Calamus Avenue sewer project. This is the FINAL newsletter for this part of the project but I'm sure we'll get updates until the project is completed. Roe Daraio, President COMET Civic Assocation www.cometcivic.com |
