Someone just called asking if there will be a trash pickup on Christmas Eve Day, 12/24. I called DSNY Queens West 5 and was told their answer applies to everyone.
Yes, there will be trash/recycling pickups on Saturday. The crews will pick up as much as possible in order to be done by midnight. They do not work Christmas day.
If you live at the end of a route, there is a small possibility you might not receive a pickup. If your trash/recycling is not picked up, it WILL NOT be picked up until your next scheduled pickup day.
I asked why it wouldn't be picked up on Monday and was told that only applies if your pickup day actually falls on the holiday. In that case, trash would be picked up but recycling would need to be taken in and placed out on your next regularly scheduled recycling pickup day.
In a nutshell, put out your trash/recycling on Friday night for Saturday's pickup. If it's not picked up, remove it from curbside and place it out on your next pickup day.
