Filming on Grand Avenue Thursday-Friday

6/20/2016

Picture
Hi All,

We heard from a couple of people that signs were posted on Grand Avenue in the vicinity of 64th Street letting folks know that parking will be limited due to a filming shoot. I reached out to Council Member Crowley's office and was told the filming schedule changed over the weekend. Please see the info below.

Hi Roe,

Thanks for reaching out about this. I spoke with the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, as well as the production office for the TV show, Shades of Blue.

The filming schedule changed over the weekend, and they will now be on Grand Avenue Thursday night around 6pm. There should be new notices up indicating this change. The exact time they arrive could change depending on their shooting schedule throughout the day, but they are doing a nighttime shoot along this stretch so I would certainly expect them by the time the sun sets. They will be filming in Mt. Olivet cemetery, but their trucks will be parked along Grand Ave.

They are permitted to put cones along this stretch 24 hours before filming begins, so Wednesday night we will see those out. But, if anyone needs to park in the metered parking area while cones are out, they can ask the on-site person to move the cones.

I spoke with Jennifer Sonnenfeld at the production office, and she said she’d be happy to take calls from anyone with questions/concerns, 718-706-5000. They will be out of the area by Friday morning.

Hope that helps! Have a good one.

Best,

Community Alert - Car break-ins

6/4/2016

Hi All,

Comet Treasurer Geraldine Walsh called to let me know she found a backpack with personal papers and mail scattered under the LIRR at 57th Avenue. She also found two vehicles on 85th/57th Avenue with broken windows and a third empty spot where a third vehicle must have also had the windows broken. She also found mail near and under the vehicles.

The address on some of the mail came back to an address on Ankener Avenue. We have no idea if the mail was stolen from one of the vehicles or someone stole mail from a house on Ankener Avenue. The mail was given to the 110th Precinct and a report was taken. Only the owners of the vehicles can file a report for the broken windows.

These break-ins are near the Maspeth border so everyone needs to be alert. Please don't leave anything, not even mail, in your vehicle. A couple of pieces of mail were applications for credit cards and this is a prime opportunity for identity theft.

If you hear a suspicious noise, look out your window. If you see something, say something!
