Captain Louron Hall will be coming to the 104th Precinct effective this Monday and DI Perry will be moving to Manhattan to work at Community Affairs with Chief Maddrey. Some of you old timers will remember when Chief Maddrey was our beat officer in the 110th Precinct many years ago. |

Police Officer Christian Martinez New York City Police Department 110 Precinct, Neighborhood Coordination Officer Hi All,
PO Berish, 104th Community Affairs, confirmed that there was an attempted robbery in Maspeth yesterday. A female, about 60-years of age, was walking past 64 #s on 65th Place when a male attempted to rip a chain from her neck. He did not get the chain but she suffered a minor injury to the neck. The perpetrator fled and jumped on a motorcycle with another male. The perpetrator(s) are described as male blacks, about 21-years of age and one weighing about 150 lbs. The report was taken at 5:02 pm. (If you're wearing an expensive necklace, don't leave it visible when walking in the neighborhood. It's a shame that we have to live on the defensive even in broad daylight. I also strongly suggest you don't carry anything in your purse that you don't want to lose. I'm surprised the perpetrator didn't try to steal her purse if she was carrying one.) Someone reached out to me about 3 "muggings" that occurred yesterday in Maspeth. Supposedly two on the Plateau. PO Berish said the above incident was the only reported incident there. I happened to be listening to the police radio yesterday afternoon when the job came over. The call was made in the vicinity of Hamilton Place but the incident actually occurred at the above location. This might account for the confusion. The second incident, which occurred at 73 #s on Grand Avenue was not a "mugging". It was an assault. Apparently a white female was exiting a cab when an Asian male, not known to the victim, punched her in the face. The 104th Precinct responded, did a canvas and arrested the male for Third Degree Assault at approximately 9:15 am. Stay healthy and stay safe! Good Morning,
Just wanted to update you on an incident that took place late last night in the confines of the 104th Precinct. At approximately 10 pm, Police responded to calls of a robbery taking place at Juniper Valley Park, more specifically Juniper Blvd. North between 78 St. and 79 St. Upon arrival Officers were met by a male victim 29 years in age. The victim stated he had been sitting on a bench in the park with his girlfriend when two unknown males approached him asking to use his cell phone. When the victim refused, one perpetrator brandished a black firearm from his waist demanding property and money then removing 20 dollars and a watch from the victim. The perpetrators then fled in two different directions, one in the Southbound direction and the other Westbound. The victim was not injured in this incident and was removed to the Precinct for interview and further information gathering. The victim was unable to provide an in depth description of the perpetrators, at this time the description is two, Male/Black, both wearing face masks and black hoodies. This incident is currently under investigation by the 104th Precinct Detective Squad. If you or anyone you know has any further information please reach out to the precinct. As always, please feel free to write or call. Thank you, Police Officer Michael Berish 104th Precinct - Community Affairs [email protected] Mike Fordunski, our Vice President, spotted this vehicle in a driveway in the vicinity of 55th Avenue and Hamilton Place. Mike believes it may be on camera because a neighbor said there were two males and it happened between 3:50-4:00 am this morning. (The time and description have not been verified.)
The best advice we can give everyone is to get wheel locks and if you park in your driveway keep a light on. These ideas might deter tire thieves but won't necessarily stop them if they want your tires. Don't forget we'll be holding a VIN Etch with the 104th and 108th Precincts on September 26th between 1-4 pm at Maspeth Federal's parking lot. Maspeth Federal is sponsoring the paper shredding. In addition to getting your vehicle VIN etched, which may save you $$ on your theft insurance, our precincts have other programs that may deter car theft. Everyone is eligible regardless of where they live. This is also an opportunity to bring up quality of life problems in your area. |
