Hi All,
Captain Manson, 104th, just called to say we had another burglary. This one occurred after 6:00 pm, 6/22 to 6/23 (Friday into Saturday), 66th/Hull Avenue. Perpetrator cut padlock on rear basement door and stole tools - a lot of them - totaling $5,000. Some of the stolen items included a jackhammer, stone cutter and mixer. Whoever did this must have had a vehicle. No one was home at time of incident. If anyone saw anything suspicious that might be related to this incident, please contact the 104th Precinct Squad. If you recall, we had a burglary through a basement last Wednesday, not too far from this location - "on Wednesday, 6/19 at 9:25 pm, resident at 56 #'s on 68th Street entered dark house and confronted a figure....." With the weather heating up, blinds being drawn and air conditioners being turned on, burglars have less of a chance of being caught. Please keep a lookout. If you hear your neighbor's dog barking, look out your window - they could be barking at a suspicious person! Captain Manson also said they had another burglary at the other end of the precinct that he hopes doesn't become a pattern. Homeowner received call from someone saying he was from alarm company, was in the area and asked if she had an alarm. This might have given perpetrators green light to burglarize her house. If you get a call like this, hang up. Don't give out any information to someone you don't know! One last interesting piece of information. Last week I received a call from a male. My caller ID showed "unknown number". Male said he was my oldest grandson. Told him I don't have a grandson and hung up. Captain Manson said oftentimes Hispanics are victims of a caller claiming to be a family member who says they've been arrested and needs cash. It's possible they thought my last name was Hispanic. No matter what your ethnicity, don't fall for this scam - if it sounds unbelievable, it probably is!! Roe Daraio, President Comet Civic Association www.cometcivic.com Hi All,
Captain Manson, 104th Precinct, states that on Wednesday, 6/19 at 9:25 pm, resident at 56 #'s on 68th Street entered dark house and confronted a figure. Perpetrator ran out door and headed to Borden Avenue. Entry was made through basement door. No description, nothing stolen - he might have just got there. Luckily homeowner wasn't hurt!! Investigation is ongoing. Best to leave on light when you go out and make sure windows/doors are locked. Please stay alert and pass this on to others in the community. Remember, a burglary can happen anywhere!! Call 911 for anything suspicious. Roe Daraio, President Comet Civic Association www.cometcivic.com Good news! See message from DI Leyson. For those of you not familar with this establishment, it's located at 79-21 Queens Boulevard in Elmhurst near the Woodside border.
Btw, we had a great turnout today at the rally to protest the trucks on Grand Avenue. Thank you to all who took the time to attend! Roe _________________________________________________ Roe, I just wanted to let you know that Club Exotics on Queens Blvd has been permanently closed. They went in front of the Full SLA Board and had their license revoked. No Principal in that club can even apply for a Liquor License for two years. This was the result of the enforcement by my team and the follow up conducted to ensure compliance, which they were not in, and the partnership with the SLA. In the event that another club opens up, we will scrutinize them just as closely to make the community a safe place. Deputy Inspector Ronald D. Leyson Commanding Officer 110th Precinct 94-41 43 Ave Elmhurst, NY 11373 Hi All

Please pass on to others in the area! Will pass on update, if any. Roe ________________ 54 #'s on Haspel. Between 0900 and 1600. Rear entry. A couple of IPads, a Mac Book, camera and a strong box with jewelry taken. Unknown about the tv, not in the report. Not the usual MO of a burglar to do that though. And flat screen tv's usually not taken, they like to grab small stuff to carry away without being obvious. Will keep you posted. Ronald D. Leyson Commanding Officer, 110th Precinct Hi All,
On Thursday, June 20th, 8:00 am - 10:00 am, triangle at 64th Street/Grand and Flushing Avenues, COMET will be holding a rally to protest the illegal truck traffic using Grand and Flushing Avenues in Maspeth. The event will be held rain or shine. Everyone who is affected by illegal truck traffic is urged to attend. If you attend our meetings and were given a whistle - bring it. We'll blow them whenever a truck goes by!! Huge tractor trailers continue to use Grand and Flushing Avenues to avoid traffic on the LIE. These trucks create pollution, noise and destroy our quality of life. We are asking for the following:
