Anybody that suffers damage during construction, should immediately do/be aware of the following:
1) File a notice of claim with the NYC comptroller’s office within 90 days of the damage. However, note that the comptroller’s office takes a very long time to decide whether or not to approve your claim (THEY CAN DENY your claim) ALSO IT IS VERY IMPORTANT and NECESSARY that to preserve your claim, you must file a lawsuit in court against the City of New York within 1 year and 90 days of the damage. You should speak to an attorney regarding your claim/damages.
2) File a claim with DDC (Department of Design & Construction)
3) Ask DDC for the name of their contractor, and the insurance information of their contractor. File a claim with the contractor’s insurance company.
