Kaplan New York City Police Department 108 Precinct Neighborhood Coordination Officer, Sector D Hi All,
Once again there will be paper shredding, electronic recycling, pet adoption and NYPD crime prevention programs at the Earth Day event this coming Saturday, 4/27 from 1-4 pm. This is also your opportunity to discuss any concerns with your Neighborhood Coordination Officers See the attached fliers. Roe Daraio, President COMET Civic Association www.cometcivic.com FYI
Burglary: 52-xx 69 Street - Jewelry removed from bedroom drawer. Point of entry is unknown at this time. Grand Larceny Auto: 53-xx 72 Street - Parked 2017 Yamaha motorcycle stolen 53-xx 72 Place - Parked 2006 Yamaha motorcycle stolen Hi All,
Wednesday, 4/10, approximately 4:00 pm at 52-xx 71st Street. The residents, who don't usually lock the security door when they're home (like many of us), heard the security door open and the dog started to bark. When one of the residents came down to see who was at the door, no one was there. They immediately thought it might have been an attempted burglary that went wrong when the dog barked. The residents, who have heard about the recent burglaries in the vicinity of 72nd Place/Calamus Avenue, made the wise decision to notify the police even though no crime was actually committed. Their call alerted the precinct, and most importantly the community, that the perpetrator(s) may have possibly moved their activity a couple of blocks over and we need to be alert. If you see someone lurking in the area on foot or in a car, try to take a photo. This may be helpful should a crime happen in the area. It doesn't matter where you live, burglars move around. You can call your precinct and speak with your Crime Prevention officer to schedule a free home security survey or you can stop up at Maspeth Federal on 4/27 between the hours of 1-4 pm and speak with them and your Neighborhood Coordination Officers. We will be working with our precincts to VIN Etch vehicles and register cell phones and bikes. Paper shredding, electronic recycling and pet adoption will be on site. More info will follow. Have a great weekend, be safe and keep your eyes open!! Roe Daraio, President COMET Civic Association www.cometcivic.com Hi All,
Our 110th Community Affairs Officer David Saponieri drove around our area making note of vehicles with out of state license plates. He said he spotted numerous vehicles with out of state plates but they all matched the vehicles with the exception of one car parked on 57th Avenue. That vehicle was "booted". Although the heavy duty tow truck was on site, they were unable to tow any illegally parked trucks because the lot where they are towed was full. However, three trucks were booted. In addition, 8 summonses were issued in our area. More vehicles would have been booted but some of the booting equipment was broken. PO Saponieri said he will make another request for a tow operation but it may take 30 to 45 days before it will return to the 110th Precinct. While working with our three precincts it's clear the NYPD does not have enough heavy duty tow trucks nor do they have the room to tow trucks or vehicles. Hopefully someone will come up with a solution. PO Saponieri spoke about the double shooting that occurred early Sunday morning on Queens Boulevard at 56th Avenue. One individual was shot in the foot and the other was shot in the thigh. The investigation is ongoing. We want to thank PO Saponieri for all the hard work he has been doing for us. Thank you!!
