Knicks player shot in Maspeth

12/30/2015

Hi All,

At about 7:30 am I received a call from Captain Travaglia, 108th Precinct, who wanted to alert us about a shooting that occurred at approximately 4:18 am this morning in Cometland.

NY Knicks player Cleanthony Early left City Scapes Nightclub, 55-61 58th Street and was heading northbound on Maurice Avenue. Just before reaching Tyler Avenue his Uber car was stopped by 4-6 males in three separate vehicles who then proceeded to rob him of his jewelry, cell phone and US currency. He was shot one time above his right knee. The perpetrators fled in an unknown direction.

The Uber driver ran to DSNY to call 911 and Early ran down 64th Street with his girlfriend and was able to reach a house and call 911. Cleanthony Early was taken to the hospital and is not likely to die.

Captain Travaglia, 108th Precinct and Captain Mackie, 104th Precinct, are both on the scene. As many of you know, many of our incidents occur on our border and this is no different. City Scapes Nightclub is in the confines of the 108th Precinct and the shooting occurred on the 104th Precinct side of Maurice Avenue.

If anyone has any information, please call the 104th or 108th Precinct Squad.

12/22/2015

Hi All,

Comet's Vice President Mike Fordunski alerted us about an electrical problem in the vicinity of the Maspeth Plateau. He followed up and said work is now being done on 66th Street in the vicinity of 53rd Drive. I placed a call to Council Member Crowley's office and below is an update from staff member Kate Mooney. Thanks Kate!

We we want to wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a happy, healthy NEW YEAR!!

Con Ed gave us a report:
There was a smoking manhole near this location.
As a result, Con Ed inspected and saw that cables were damaged and had to replace the cables.
The condition affected about 300 customers
After correction of condition the do testing for carbon monoxide levels
They test for 3 days and will back fill the open and then resurface

Con Ed Requested National Grid to also test for gas. Please let residents know that If there are concerns in their home, contact us and Con Ed supervisors will pay them a visit.
They expect to be out of there by Thursday with crews working overnight

Hope that is all you need.

Merry Christmas,

Kate

Community Alert - Tire & Rim theft at the Pan Am

12/10/2015

Hi All,

Looks like the "rim and tire" guys are back in our area. We want to thank the Elmhurst resident who spotted the vehicle below and passed these photos on to us so we can alert the community. The vehicle was parked on 51st Avenue near the Pan Am Homeless Shelter.

The incident was reported to the 110th Precinct.

If you hear anything suspicious during the night grab a phone and look out your window! These thieves move around and your block may be the next target.
