Last night I was told that a group of protesters on bicycles marched up Grand Avenue in Maspeth and briefly stopped by PS 58. Folks were surprised that no prior notification was given letting them know the event was taking place. I spoke to DI Perry, Commanding Officer of the 104th Precinct, and she stated these pop-up protests were occurring throughout the city without prior notice given to the NYPD. Keep in mind that we all have a First Amendment right of freedom of speech and that is one of the great things we have in this country. However, if you will be protesting, please wear a mask and exercise social distancing the best that you can. If a protest pops up unannounced, you can call 911 to advise the precinct where it is. The Operator may or may not switch you to 311 and you can remain anonymous. It's important that our precincts know what's going on. Most importantly, stay healthy and safe! Roe Daraio, President COMET Civic Association www.cometcivic.com Hi All,
We were advised by Assemblyman Barnwell that the construction of the 70th Street sewer project will be entering the next phase somewhere near, if not, July 6th and he wants to insure updates are provided to the community as soon as possible. Since large gatherings are not allowed, the meeting will be held on Zoom and the agency wants as many folks as possible in the surrounding area to hear what will be going on. Assemblyman Barnwell will provide us with further details as soon as they are made available. See attached. Roe Daraio, President COMET Civic Association Hi There,
I was hoping you could help issue a No Parking warning to the Maspeth community for Friday 6/12/20. The 104th NYPD precinct has helped us issue No Parking signs between the hours of 10am and 2pm on 60th Street between 55th Dr and 56th Ave in Maspeth (11378). The reason for our request is because we are in the process of re-arranging our refrigeration units to comply with the EPA noise complaint . To move one of these units (40 foot container) requires a large truck, and the truck itself needs clearance to make the turns getting down 60th St. Please see the attached image provided by the moving company (highlighted in red). Any help to let our neighbors know that we’re asking they move their cars before 10am on Friday 6/12/20 would be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, you can reach out to me at 929-400-2853. Thanks so much! Mike Douaire Finance Support Manager Ole & Steen |
