Hello Everyone,
In December, the MTA released the next report in the Queens Bus Network Redesign initiative, the Proposed Final Plan. In this Plan we further refine the Queens bus network to address the needs of our stakeholders while balancing trade-offs and using network redesign strategies to achieve our customer priorities: Reliable Service, Faster Travel, Better Connections, and Simplified Service. In January and February, we will be presenting to all Queens community boards. Please visit your community board’s website or call the office for meeting details. You can also find more information and identify your community board here.
Check out your proposed commute in the Future Trip Planner! The routes shown in the Proposed Final Plan have been uploaded to the Future Trip Planner so people can get a sense of the routes they would be interested in and their average travel times. The new routes will be available for preview via a trip planning tool that allows customers to input a start and end location and see an overview of their trip with the bus route changes in effect. After entering their trip information, customers are able to drag the start and end flags across the map and watch their options and routes shift in real time. Enter your start and end locations to see which routes you might use! Interactive network maps We need your feedback! Use this interactive Remix map to view our proposed bus routes and stops in detail. Please provide comments using the "Post Comment" button on the top right of the page. Then click on the route that you would like to comment on. Proposed Local & Express Bus Network System maps
Thank you, The Queens Redesign Team Many folks in our community are not reporting low-level crime because they feel it's a waste of time and the police can't do anything about it. Others don't want to report because they don't want to wait around for an officer to come and take the report.
Police focus on the areas where crime is being reported so it's important we let them know what's going on in our area. For instance, many packages are being stolen but very few people take the time to file a report. The good news is that you can report crime online as well as access other services. We urge you to take advantage of this option. Please safe this info in the event you need it! Visit NYPD Online for: Victim Services & Assistance Obtain a Police Report File a Police Report online Crime Stoppers Schedule an Appointment Pistol Permits & Licensing Additional Services Go to: nypdonline.org In case some of you need clarification about the Department of Sanitation's trash containerization requirements for residential homes, which will take effect in the fall of 2024, we reached out and got this response below. We don't want folks purchasing pails in advance that don't fit the requirements.
The Adams Administration is committed to getting trash bags off the street, bringing New York City in line with other global leaders that have moved their waste into containers. Between the commercial containerization effort and sweeping new residential rules, 70% of the city’s trash is headed into containers. By moving the black bags off the streets and into sealed, rodent-proof receptacles, we are reclaiming public spaces, cutting off the 24-hour rat buffet, and improving quality of life for all New Yorkers. Additional information about the new regulations is available at: https://www.nyc.gov/assets/dsny/site/resources/recycling-and-garbage-laws/use-bins/residential-containerization The new containerization rules are not affected by the budget cuts.
We appreciate the challenges that the new regulations may pose to residents and businesses alike and thank you for sharing your concerns. Sincerely, Debra Barreto, Deputy Director Bureau of Community Affairs New York City Department of Sanitation ULURP/ZONING COMMITTEE
