We have been receiving complaints about a mobile car wash setting up for business on 69th Street at Grand Avenue outside of Maspeth Federal Savings. Sgt. Cortes, 104th Precinct, passed this information along. This will certainly come up for discussion at our COMET meeting tomorrow night!!
We have a lot to discuss. Crime statistics, traffic, quality of life concerns and updates from our elected official's representatives.

A Glendale senior was recently scammed by a roofer for $30,000. A bank employee became suspicious when she came back to withdraw more cash and convinced her it was a scam and called the police. In response to this blast, a northern Maspeth resident, who is knowledgeable about these scams, sent us the comment below. Please be alert and don't fall for these scams!! "Someone tried this scam on me a couple weeks ago on Grand Ave. He claimed he met me when working on my neighbors roof and noticed I needed work and he would inspect it for free. I almost started believing him but figured it out and walked away. He had an Irish accent." Good morning,
The 104th Precinct would like to make you aware of an incident that occurred yesterday, February 10, 2024 at approximately 07:23 PM. Police responded to a call for an assault with a knife at 75 Street and Metropolitan Avenue in Middle Village. Once at the location, responding Officers discovered an injured male victim with laceration wounds to both legs. The victim stated to on-scene personnel that he was approached by five males who threw him to the ground and began assaulting him. The victim was removed to an area hospital for treatment to his injuries. At this time, it appears that the victim was likely targeted, and this was not a random act of violence. The investigation is preliminary, and details are subject to change. As always, if anyone has questions or concerns, please reach out to the 104th Precinct Community Affairs office. Best, Police Officer Dilsia Bonilla 104 Precinct- Community Affairs |
