A couple of west Maspeth residents have heard drag racing this past weekend. One person heard it around midnight on Friday and the other resident heard it both Friday and Saturday nights about the same time.
I live in northern Maspeth and heard loud engines revving about 10:00 pm on Friday night. I assumed the noise came from the McDonald's parking lot since in the past drag racers met up there, but I haven't received any complaints and can't confirm where the noise came from.
Since the drag racing is oftentimes on the border, I reached out to both the 104th and 108th Precincts. Captain Forgione, 108th Precinct, responded and said it has been going on for the past couple of weeks and they are addressing it. PO Diaz, Community Affairs, said the racing is taking place along Review Avenue which is a distance from our area.
If you hear drag racing, please report it so our precincts can address it before it gets out of hand. Be sure to provide the days/times/location it's occurring.
