- Saturday, October 17th, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Maspeth Federal parking lot at 69th Street/Grand Avenue: Join Council Member Crowley, Maspeth Federal, 104th and 108th Precincts and Comet for a Community Recycling and Crime Prevention Day. Paper shredding, electronics recycling (TVs, monitors, computers, laptops, printers, VCRs, keyboards, etc.) and a rain barrel give-a-way on a first come, first served basis. Our precincts will VIN Etch your vehicle to help deter car theft. Your insurance company may give you a discount on your theft insurance. The NYPD will also register your bicycles, cell phones, tablets, iPads, x-boxes, etc., schedule a free home security survey, and we will be handing out informational material.
- Monday, October 19th, our Comet meeting will be held at St. Adalbert Parish Center, lower level, 52-40 84th Street, Elmhurst, 7:00 pm. 104th, 108th and 110th Precincts will update us about crime in our area. A few folks had concerns about illegal dumping and lack of trash baskets. A representative from the Department of Sanitation will be attending and can hopefully resolve these issues.
- Saturday, October 24th, the 110th Precinct will be hosting a Block Party for Breast Cancer Awareness, outside the precinct at 94-41 43rd Avenue, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. This is a totally free event designed to get the community involved with education and support pertaining to Breast Cancer. The 110th Precinct will be offering a number of services, fun activities for the community including NYPD Mounted, K9, ESU, Highway, Aviation, Crime Prevention, Youth/Explorers, Breast Cancer Education, Bouncy House, FDNY, Corona Ambulance, DJ, face painting, and a free BBQ. There will be a cupcake booth 2-$1 and donations would be greatly appreciated but are not required.
