Some of you have been asking when the 70th Street sewer construction will begin. Initially it was slated to begin in March.
I reached out to Assemblyman Barnwell's office and was told the project will most likely not begin until the fall and it is not known when a meeting date will be scheduled.
On the bright side, we won't have the construction noise and dust blowing around during the warm weather when our windows are open.
Some of the streets affected will be Calamus Avenue between 69th and 70th Streets, 70th Street between Calamus and 54th Avenues, 71st Street between 54th and Grand Avenues, and Grand Avenue from 71st Street to, and including, Mazeau Street.
Q47 bus riders are concerned they may lose the bus service again on Calamus Avenue and this is one of the issues we will bring up when the meeting is held. Bus service and parking seem to be the biggest priorities for most folks. Parking will surely be impacted if the contractor stores equipment on our residential streets.
We will continue to follow up on this important issue and keep you updated.
