This upcoming sewer project will affect a lot of people on 70th Street, 71st Street, Grand Avenue and Mazeau Street as well as a portion of Calamus Avenue. It is likely that folks on adjacent blocks, i.e. 52nd Avenue, 52nd Drive, etc., will be impacted to some degree.
Although this project isn't slated until next year, I think it's important that homeowners know well in advance what is headed their way and that's why I requested this meeting now. If you're planning on doing home improvements to the outside of your home this spring, you might want to reconsider. Property damage did occur on Calamus Avenue and it could happen on this project. You will have ample time to take "before" photos of inside and outside of your home in the event you need to file a claim. The agency will most likely take photos as well, but I think it's best you have your own photos as backup. I will be taking photos of my property.
The Department of Design & Construction will give us a presentation.
Fliers will be put out door-to-door a week before the meeting. Fliers are also being printed in Chinese.
I want to thank the offices of Assemblyman Brian Barnwell and Council Member Elizabeth Crowley for working to help set up this important meeting.
See the attached flier.
