I called DSNY Queens West 5 and asked when trash and recycling pickups will resume. I was told that they're working 24 hours/7 days and trucks have been picking up today and will get to whatever they can. However, if it snows they will stop making pickups in order to plow/salt the streets. This applies to everyone regardless of which community you live in.
Folks should place out their trash and recycling on their regular pickup day. If it snows, leave the pails/bags out but make sure they are kept clear of snow. When the plowing/salting is completed they will resume pickups. They will be working on Sunday too. Summonses will not be issued if trash isn't picked up.
