NYC Sanitation Provides Trash, Recycling and Curbside Compost Collection Service Updates for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day Holidays
With two back-to-back Saturday holidays, the New York City Department of Sanitation is providing guidance to residents who normally receive Saturday collection.
While many organizations and business may recognize the holidays the Friday before, Friday is a normal collection day for the Department (assuming no snowstorms). Residents with Friday collection should follow their normal schedule.
- Residents who normally receive Saturday recycling or curbside compost collection may place their material out at curbside between 4 p.m. and midnight on Sunday for collection beginning Monday. Residents may experience collection delays, as is common after holidays. We appreciate patience as we work to collect the backlog of material.
- Residents who normally receive Saturday trash collection should hold their material until their next trash collection day.
