I spoke to Captain Wachter, 104th Precinct, concerning the incident that occurred today on 66th Street near Hull Avenue. He said this is an ongoing investigation and doesn't want to speculate.
We do know the the 104th Precinct responded to a burglary in progress at approximately 2:00 pm which resulted in a police involved shooting. The 38-year old perpetrator, who was shot in the groin, is a career burglar from Brooklyn and it is not known why he targeted our area. He was recently released from jail.
There was a rumor going around that a woman nearby had a head injury and she might have been shot. This is not true. The injured woman was a couple of blocks away and it believed she fell.
The good news is that no resident or police officer was injured.
On a lighter note, Captain Wachter wants to remind everyone about the 104th Precinct's Night Out Against Crime tomorrow night, Tuesday, August 2nd, which begins at 5:00 pm in Juniper Park. He hopes to see everyone there!
