New NYC garbage rules go into effect April 1

Slated to go into effect citywide on April 1, set out times will change to the following:

• If garbage is in a secure container with a lid, it can be placed at the curb beginning at 6 p.m. the night prior;
• If garbage is in trash bags, it can be placed at the curb beginning at 8 p.m. the night prior;
• Bundled cardboard, which does not attract rats, can be placed at the curb beginning at 6 p.m. the night prior.
