I hope all is well and this communication finds you in good health and spirits. I wanted to share the following information with you regarding SE859.
Please be advised that the contractor is planning to begin sewer, water main and catch basin work beginning the week of January 20, 2020 in the following area:
- 53rd Dr to 54th Avenue 15” sewer, Manhole and catch Basin work (approximately 1 month)
- 71st Street from 54th Avenue to Grand Avenue - 24” sewer, 18” sewer, manhole and catch basin (approximately 3 weeks)
- Mazeau Street, Grand Avenue to Queens Midtown Expressway- 12”: water, 15” Sewer Manholes and Catch Basin (approximately (6 Weeks)
Please note that the OCMC allows the contractor to close the street during working hours 7AM to 5PM. There will be a lane available for emergency and local traffic only. After working hours there
will be one lane open for traffic.
On 70th Street/71st Street/Mazeau Street-Due to the close proximity of the school, the contractor will close the street from 9am to 2PM. The street will be fully closed except for emergency and local traffic only during this period. The contractor will however work within the fenced area from 7AM to 9AM and 2PM onwards.
Closing the street late at 9AM and opening the street at 2PM will help minimize the rush hour for the school. There will be one lane available during non-working hours.
We have also authorized the contractor to work Saturday to reduce the schedule.
Work cannot be done at night as OCMC will not grant a permit due to the residential neighborhood.
Best Regards,
