I've been getting texts and emails asking what was going on with all the police activity on 53rd Road/69th Street this afternoon.
I spoke with Captain Hall and he said this began yesterday when a 911 caller stated a firearm was brandished during a domestic dispute. The perpetrator had left before the police arrived and he was not apprehended.
The perpetrator returned today but the victim was not home. When he couldn't get into the house he kicked in the door and barricaded himself inside. The police were able to enter the house and apprehend the emotionally disturbed male peacefully and he was taken to the hospital uninjured for observation.
During this ordeal it was necessary to close 69th Street for safety. Traffic is now moving.
