Captain Travaglia, 108th Precinct, wants to alert everyone about two burglaries and a car theft that occurred in Woodside/Winfield. The burglaries are right on the Maspeth border and not too far from Elmhurst. Everyone needs to be on alert!!!
On 10/8/2015, between the hours of 9:00 am and 9:00 pm., 51-00 #'s on 65th Place two locations were burglarized right next to each other. The front doors on both locations were damaged and entry was made by the perpetrator(s).
On 10/7/2015, in the vicinity of 48-00 #'s on 67th Street, a 1998 Toyota Corolla (auto) was stolen. It was double-parked and left running at the location prior to being stolen. It was recovered a couple of hours later in Pennsylvania.
Captain Travaglia is concerned with the two burglaries because a substantial amount of burglary recidivists are back out on the street due to parole, probation, time served, etc. and some live in our area. He said if anyone observes something unusual or out of place they should call and report it!!
- If you see a suspicious person(s) in the area, call 911 and tell the Operator that there have been burglaries in the area and you don't recognize this person. You will not get into trouble if you are mistaken.
- I'll be sending out more detailed info about an upcoming event where you can make an appointment with your Crime Prevention Officer for a freeHome Security Survey on Saturday, 10/17, 1-4 pm in Maspeth Federal's parking lot. They will give you cost effective tips on how to keep your home safe.
- Please don't leave your vehicle unlocked. Almost all car break-ins are a result of unlocked vehicles!!
