Received an email from a member who said that a black purse was found by St. Adalbert Church last Saturday out front on the bench. There was no ID or money in it, just a book and a hat. She was wondering if someone was mugged last Friday or Saturday in that vicinity. Here's DI Leyson's response to her question and info concerning other crimes in our area.

I did not find any Robberies or Purse Snatches in the area of St Adalberts last weekend.
Unfortunately we DID have one yesterday... at approximately 11:00 at the corner of Poyer Street and Dongan Ave, an unknown male jumped out of a white van and snatched the purse of a female Asian who was 57 years old... He jumped back in the van and fled. Please make sure everyone remains aware of their surroundings.
We had a bit of a Burglary spree on Van Kleeck Street yesterday. Three different apartments were hit via the windows. Two Apartments in 51-55 Van Kleeck and one was in 51-25 Van Kleeck. Jewelry, electronics and money were stolen in each.
Please remind people that they must secure their windows when they go out and leave their apartments unoccupied. I know it is tempting to "air out" the place while you're gone but you are leaving yourself vulnerable to thieves.
PLEASE, if anyone sees or hears anything on the Fire Escapes, CALL 911!!! Nobody should be on the fire escape.
