Heard from an Elmhurst resident alerting us about a robbery that occurred last night. I reached out to DI Manson, 110th Precinct, to find out more about the crime. Unfortunately, it turns out to be multiple crimes!
I will relay what DI Manson said, but there is so much information I may be leaving something out or not being totally accurate. DI Manson will give us the story at our meeting on Monday.
The "crime wave" began at about 9:00 pm last night on north side of Queens Boulevard - not sure of location. A male was robbed.
The second incident occurred at approximately midnight on Codwise Place. The victim was robbed at knifepoint and his cell phone was stolen.
The third incident occurred at about 1:00 am at 74th Street/Queens Boulevard. The victim was stabbed and his cell phone was stolen. This was when the perpetrator was arrested.
A 110th Precinct sector car was canvassing the area for the perpetrator. As they were driving down Queens Boulevard the officers thought they saw two males arguing. They pulled over to see what was going on and it turns out that the perpetrator was stabbing the victim!! He was stabbed about 6 times. I do not know his condition at this time.
The story gets better. One of the victims who had his cell phone stolen was at the precinct during the time the perpetrator was being brought in. The 110th "pinged" the victim's cell phone so they could trace it. When they pinged it, they heard it at the precinct and found the phone in the perpetrator's pocket!! (You can't make this up. lol)
The 17-year old perpetrator is a male Hispanic who lives in the confines of the 115th Precinct and is a member of a well-known gang. He was riding a bicycle at the time of the robberies. He is currently being charged with the stabbing and being in possession of stolen property. The 110th Precinct will do a lineup. If the victim(s) of the robberies can pick him out he will also be charged with robbery.
We want to commend the 110th Precinct, especially the officers who pulled over for what they thought was an argument, for a job well done!!
