We took two separate gunpoint robbery carjackings in Maspeth last night.
The one that we dealt with was just after 11:00 pm at 73rd Street just off Grand Avenue. A male parked his car next to the motel on 73rd Street. He began walking home north on 73rd Street when he was struck from behind by two unknown males, beaten and his keys, wallet and phone were taken. The perpetrators then fled, one took the victim's black Ford Mustang and the other perpetrator fled in a red Dodge. Both vehicles made the right on Grand Avenue and were last seen going westbound.
The other occurrence was just after midnight in front of 59-42 56 Drive. And very similarly, the victim parked his car and walked to the side door of the residence when he was struck in the face/head and the perpetrators removed his keys, displayed a firearm and were impersonating police officers. One perpetrator fled the scene in the victim's vehicle. The second perpetrator fled the scene in a dark Nissan Rogue with unknown PA plates.
