Incident in the 104th Precinct - Glendale

FYI from DI Coleman, Commanding Officer:

On Friday May 12th at approx. 6:55pm the 104 PCT responded to the Atlas Mall for 2 victims shot with BB guns. The two victims, 1 F/H who is 10 weeks pregnant, and 1 M/H, states that they were in the pedestrian walkway outside the mall when they were struck multiple times with BB pellets. They looked up and observed 3 perps, 1 with a BB gun. Perps were located on the second floor balcony, which is attached to the mall. Perps fled location by foot westbound on Cooper Ave. Female victim was struck on the back of the head and male victim was struck on forehead and neck area. Both victims refused medical attention.

1) NYC Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit - Neighborhood Support Teams Rollout Presentation

  *   Joining us for our May meeting will be representatives from the Mayor's Community Affairs Unit to discuss the rollout of their Neighborhood Support Teams.
  *   What are Neighborhood Support Teams?
     *   Neighborhood Support Teams will work with existing City resources in addressing quality of life issues in specific geographic areas over the course of one year. NST's use the insights and ideas of local communities to develop a creative strategy for addressing the identified quality of life concerns.
  *   The CAU team is looking for community feedback on what quality-of-life issues to focus on. The deadline for this feedback is Wednesday, May 31st, 2023. Our May Civic Engagement Committee meeting will be the perfect opportunity to share any quality-of-life concerns that folks are experiencing. Please note: for this particular initiative, the CAU team is looking for quality-of-life concerns that impact multiple blocks of an area or even multiple communities. Larger scale issues & concerns. Incident on Grand Ave in Maspeth

Good afternoon,

The 104th Precinct would like to make you aware of an incident that occurred today, May 12, 2023 at approximately 05:33 AM.

 Police responded to a call for an assault in progress in the vicinity of 69 Street and Grand Ave in Maspeth. Once at the location, the Officers were approached by a witness who stated that the Victim was stabbed in the upper back during a physical altercation with the perpetrator. The victim is in stable condition and is being treated at a local hospital. The perpetrator has been arrested and is in the custody of the 104th Precinct. 

As always, questions and concerns can be directed to the 104th Precinct Community Affairs Office.

NYPD looking for info!

The New York City Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in identifying the individual depicted in the attached media in connection to a rape that occurred within the confines of the 108 Precinct. Details are as follows: 

It was reported to police that on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at approximately 0500 hours, the 49-year-old female victim was walking home when she was approached by an unknown individual who was operating a motorized scooter. The individual began a conversation with the victim, who then climbed onto the back of the scooter. The individual drove the victim to the vicinity of 48 Avenue and 72 Street, where he punched her in the face, causing her head to hit the ground and for her to lose consciousness. The individual then proceeded to rape the victim. As the victim was regaining consciousness, the individual fled the location on the scooter, heading to parts unknown. The victim was transported to NYC Health and Hospital/ Elmhurst, where she was admitted in serious but stable condition.

The individual being sought is described as a male approximately 6' 00" tall, 200 pounds, with a medium complexion and a medium build.

Attached are surveillance photos depicting the individual prior to the incident.

Special COMET Meeting with USPS, Tuesday, 5/9, 7:00 pm

In response to the concerns of residents regarding mail thefts and stolen checks, etc., DI Coleman, 104th Precinct, put us in touch with a US Postal Inspector from USPS who will attend this meeting. We look forward to hearing what is being done to thwart mail theft. 

We reached out to our neighborhood bank, Maspeth Federal Savings, and they have arranged for the Vice President & Deposit Operations Director to attend to inform us about State Regulations on refunds for stolen checks/cash.
