DI Wong, Commanding Officer of the 110th Precinct, wants folks to know that they are aggressively looking for cars at car meets/drag racing.

Last night they seized 16 cars with the help of citywide units. Four of the cars had giant speakers on their roofs.

He is encouraging all residents to call if they witness or hear something like this going on.

Incident in the 104th Precinct

4/18/2026

We would like to update you on an incident that took place earlier this morning within the 104th Precinct. At approximately 1:47 am a 911 call was dispatched for drag racing at the intersection of 69 Street and Eliot Avenue, Middle Village.   Within 3 minutes, at 1:50 am, Captain Rios and Officers arrived on scene and were met with a disorderly crowd and large amounts of vehicles at the intersection.  While trying to apprehend and gain control of the scene, the crowd placed a large construction barrier in the street preventing and deterring the officers' vehicles from pursuing.  While trying to drive around the obstructions, three individuals jumped onto the police vehicle resulting in a shattered windshield.  Officers then initiated a foot pursuit for the individuals who ultimately jumped into a fleeing vehicle leaving the scene.  The 104th Precinct requested additional resources such as our Drone team who was also on scene.  After Officers put a description of the vehicle over communications,  Officers were able to stop a vehicle a few blocks away and issue a summons at this time.

Due to the large intersection, Officers were faced with tactical disadvantages.  Prior to this event there was a large car meet up in the confines of the 110th Precinct, upon receiving this information the 104th Precinct was monitoring our chronic and known locations where we typically see drag racing and car meet ups, historically at some areas located in Maspeth.  Please understand this incident is ongoing and currently under investigation.  As always, please write or call with any information regarding this incident.

Community Affairs Section, 104th Precinct
