The rail would run down 69th Street through Middle Village, Maspeth and Woodside. One of the stops proposed would be in the vicinity of 74th Street and Grand Avenue. In order move forward numerous properties near the line would be confiscated.
Do we need more trains running through our neighborhood? Do we need more congestion on Grand Avenue? Residents believe we already have bus service to Brooklyn and the subway to Brooklyn is easy to access.
Many believe the billions of dollars being set aside for this project should be used to upgrade subway service throughout NYC and not spend the money on a project we didn't ask for or need.
This is your opportunity to comment!!
We hope you had a happy holiday season!
Our next IBX Community Council meeting will take place Thursday, Jan 16th from 4:00pm-5:30pm on Zoom. Please RSVP by responding to this message by 1/13/2025. A Zoom link will be sent to confirmed attendees.
It's been a few months since our last meeting, so here's a recap of what's been happening:
The team conducted a series of pop-up outreach events at various locations along the proposed Interborough Express route. Many of these locations were selected based on feedback from the IBX Community Council. The outreach team had over 1,300 interactions with community members and local businesses, and were able to gather feedback and learn about what the IBX would mean for their communities.
We'd like to share project updates and upcoming community engagement plans with you at our next meeting. As always, we will also provide time for questions and discussion.
Please RSVP by responding to this message by 1/13/2025. A Zoom link will be sent to confirmed attendees. We ask that invited organizations/offices send up to two attendees each and keep representatives consistent across Community Council meetings whenever possible.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Thank you,
IBX Project Team
