Hi All,
A community resident called yesterday, Thursday, 7/30, to let me know about a fire that occurred at 85-44 Van Horn Street in Elmhurst. As you can see, there's little left of the building. We contacted the Department of Buildings and I'm sure steps are being taken to secure the property.
Here's the concern. I was told that the building has been vacant for quite some time and 311 was called several times. Nothing was done. Since then, folks state that youth have been seen going in and out of the property. We don't know if anyone called 911 about trespassing.
If nothing is done let COMET know as soon as possible. We have several vacant buildings in our area and don't want to see another fire.
