DI Wong, Commanding Officer of the 110th Precinct, reached out to let us know that car thieves are targeting Toyota Highlanders in our area. To date, four car thefts have occurred. He's asking folks to make sure their car is locked and try to park in a well lit area and said the vehicles are being stolen in early morning hours. Keep in mind these thieves more around and we don't know where they'll strike next.
The general vicinity of the thefts occurred on 57th Road/Van Horn Street, 56th Avenue/Van Horn Street; Grand Avenue/84th Street and Queens Blvd/56th Avenue.
DI Wong wanted to bring this to our attention immediately rather than waiting for our next scheduled meeting on October 6th. He is in contact with DI Chowdhury, Commanding Officer of the 104th Precinct.
If anyone sees suspicious activity, please call 911 immediately. You will not get in trouble if you're mistaken.
