COMET meeting agenda March 3, 2025

2/28/2025

UPDATE

Some legislation just passed regarding DSNY trash bins and some folks may be eligible to receive a reimbursement. Alicia from Council Member Holden's office will be on hand to answer questions.

The Zoom info is below. We have a lot on the agenda so please try to keep questions/responses as brief as possible.

NYPD Questions/Concerns
  • Crime statistics and any unusual events.
  • 110th - Was there a robbery on the south side of QB involving five perpetrators who allegedly robbed a person? This possibly happened on 2/20.
  • 104th/108th - Accidents continue to top the list in our area especially in the 104th. Any ideas?
  • 104th - Any luck removing the monstrosity on Starr Street?
  • 104th - The 104th did a great job identifying the perp who robbed the female senior citizen. Was he ever apprehended?
  • 108th - Abandoned vehicles on 54th Avenue between Maurice Avenue and 58th Street in Maspeth - Many of these are motor homes with or without license plates. Additionally there are other vehicles such as trucks and cars. Most of these vehicles of all types have not moved for many months. Double Parked Vehicles on Queens Midtown Expressway Service Road Westbound between Maurice Avenue and 58th Street in Maspeth - Most of these are trucks. This occurs on weekdays during business hours.
  • Maspeth Federal's Earth Day event is scheduled for 4/12. Are there any programs folks can sign up for?
  • 110th - Asian Outreach - Will the outreach continue in Elmhurst Park now that the weather will be improving?

Elected Officials' Reps - Questions/Concerns
  • Accidents continue on Exits 18 & 19. Any update?
  • BQE flooding at QB. Any update?
  • Sewer cleaning and improvements to reduce flooding on highways/roads.

  • CSX - Any update regarding the storing of trains, loud noise and rat problem which emanates from State property?
  • Any suggestions as to deter illegal dumping under the railroad on Calamus and 74th Street?
