On September 22, 2016 at approximately 0015 hours, members of our anti-crime team arrested a 26 year old Maspeth resident for breaking into cars at 56 st and Nurge Avenue. This male has 6 prior arrests including Grand Larceny and drug possession.
Capt. Wachter Hi All,
Please see the message below from Captain Mackie, Executive Officer at 104th Precinct, concerning a recent burglary. He also recapped burglaries in our area during December. You can call your local precinct and schedule a safety survey with your Crime Prevention Officer. Stay alert and call 911 if you see something suspicious - most burglaries occur during the day!!! Roe Daraio, President Comet Civic Associatiion www.cometcivic.com Hi Roe...hope you had a fantabulous Christmas and New Year!! On Monday 1/4 there was a residential burglary at 54-xx 66th Street. The victims went out to dinner in Flushing in the early evening. When they returned later in the night, they discovered the 2nd floor bedroom ransacked and $3,000 missing from a dresser drawer. The 2nd floor window used to gain entry had a previously broken lock, which basically allowed the perp to walk right on in. Additionally the home had cameras but they were NOT recording. We have seen a rise in residential burgs in the area. PLEASE warn everyone to not keep large amounts of cash in the home, it's always safer in the bank, if they have a surveillance system, the cameras are useless unless they are actively recording, and windows are a common entry point (even those above ground level), ALWAYS keep them locked and if they are broken please make sure they get fixed immediately! If anyone is in need of a Crime Prevention survey of their home, Officers Hyatt and Collado are always available to perform these surveys, free of charge. -Capt Mac Recap of Burglaries in December 12/23/15: 5100 74 st, both 2 apts burglarized- basement windows broken during daytime. Perp forced locks open to 1st and 2nd fl apts. book and chocolates under tree removed. 12/16/15: 5900 57 Rd. Daytime burg. Playstation, G-shock watch and soccer jerseys taken. Victim returns from work and finds front door to apt broken and items missing. See the email below with an update from the Clinton Diner, 56-26 Maspeth Avenue. If you recall, the 104th arrested a perpetrator on Monday at about 1:00 am. This incident occurred on Monday at 3:41 am and in this case it's suspected at least two perpetrators are involved. These individuals are not only looking into breaking into vehicles, but businesses as well. I'm sure they would have no problem breaking into a house. Some of you may not live in Maspeth, but it can happen in your area too!
Please be alert, call 911 if you see anything suspicious, secure your home and don't leave property in your vehicle. You can contact the Crime Prevention Officer at your precinct and ask for a free home/business security survey. Don't wait until you become a victim. Please pass this on to friends/family. If you have any info, contact the 104th Precinct. _____________ FYI "We also had a break in at my parents Diner on Monday 3:41am and the perps stayed in the diner until 5:25AM. After that one of them proceeded to try to break in 2 tractor trailers parked over night behind the diner, and woke up the driver who chased him away.
