Hi All,
After the fatal accident that occurred at the 69th Street exit of the LIE, Assembly Member Brian Barnwell asked NYS DOT to look at what could be done to deter truckers from parking at the bottom of the exit ramp to make it safer for motorists. I had the opportunity to join Assembly Member Barnwell, representatives from NYS DOT, and NYC DOT Queens Deputy Commissioner Jason Banrey at the location. As if on queue, a huge tractor trailer pulled over into the illegal spot! It didn't take long for NYS DOT to realize the severity of the problem. Assembly Member Barnwell's office forwarded to us the following: I wanted to send you an update from the state DOT meeting on 10/2/17 to discuss trucks that park on the left side of the westbound LIE service road (Queens Midtown Expressway) off the 69th Street exit ramp. As a result of the meeting, NYS DOT issued a work order to its maintenance contractor to install hatch line pavement markings and Qwick Kurb devices in the left shoulder area. NYS DOT is also requesting that NYC DOT install No Standing signs at this location, signs at this location. We want to thank Assembly Member Barnwell, NYS and NYC DOT for working together for a solution that we hope will save lives. Hello Everyone, On Oct 27, 2017, my partner, Sebastian, and I met with a contractor at the 82-11 Grand Avenue to commence work on sealing and securing the location as per the owners, Ms. Thommen and Mr. Mcginniss. We cleared the house and it was unoccupied at the time. We did find two kittens inside and we dropped them off at the Animal Care and Control on Queens Boulevard for adoption. Hopefully, the owners will determine what to do with the property soon, and it will be the last time we have to deal with it. -Don POLICE OFFICER DON LEE NEW YORK POLICE DEPARTMENT 110 PRECINCT, NEIGHBORHOOD COORDINATION OFFICER 94-41 43 AVENUE, ELMHURST, NY 11373 Hi All,
This upcoming sewer project will affect a lot of people on 70th Street, 71st Street, Grand Avenue and Mazeau Street as well as a portion of Calamus Avenue. It is likely that folks on adjacent blocks, i.e. 52nd Avenue, 52nd Drive, etc., will be impacted to some degree. Although this project isn't slated until next year, I think it's important that homeowners know well in advance what is headed their way and that's why I requested this meeting now. If you're planning on doing home improvements to the outside of your home this spring, you might want to reconsider. Property damage did occur on Calamus Avenue and it could happen on this project. You will have ample time to take "before" photos of inside and outside of your home in the event you need to file a claim. The agency will most likely take photos as well, but I think it's best you have your own photos as backup. I will be taking photos of my property. The Department of Design & Construction will give us a presentation. Fliers will be put out door-to-door a week before the meeting. Fliers are also being printed in Chinese. I want to thank the offices of Assemblyman Brian Barnwell and Council Member Elizabeth Crowley for working to help set up this important meeting. See the attached flier.
