Be on the Lookout! Car Break-ins

Hi All,

A neighbor reached out to me this morning and said that his car was broken into. Here's some info:

The incident occurred on 70th Street between 52nd Drive and 53rd Avenue.
The car was parked in the driveway. The gate was not closed.
Neither the door nor locks were damaged but the owner was "confident" the doors were locked.
The seats were moved, everything was gone through but nothing was stolen.
One of the responding officers told me this is going on all over. As a matter of fact, we had a similar incident this past week in Elmhurst in broad daylight.

Please don't rely on the automatic door locks and make sure you leave nothing valuable in your vehicle. If you have a gate, close it because the thief won't want to make a noise opening it.

Regardless of whether or not something was stolen we urge you to file a report so that the precinct can see where these incidents are occurring. Not filing a report is like saying nothing happened.

104th Precinct NCO Charlie Build the Block

Sector Charlie covers most of Maspeth, a small portion of Woodside and Ridgewood and a few blocks of Elmhurst.

Hi All,

Our Neighborhood Coordination Officers (NCO) PO Nisbett and PO Shoy will be holding a Build the Block meeting on Monday, 8/17, at the Faith Presbyterian Church, 53-71 72nd Place. Doors open 4:00 pm for refreshments and meeting will start at 4:30 pm. See attached.

In order to maintain social distancing there will be limited seating.

If you would like to reserve a spot, you can email COMET and we will pass your name along to our officers. Those who do not reserve a seat will be allowed in if space is available.

This is your opportunity to bring up any concerns. We look forward to seeing you.

Claim Form - Replacing food lost during power outage

Councilmember Dromm's office passed this along to us. Please send to anyone you know who was affected by the power outage.

1. Claim funds from Con Ed for spoiled food due to the recent power outages.

2. Claim replacement SNAP benefits for food purchased with SNAP that has been lost due to the recent power outages.
Under SNAP regulations, SNAP recipients who have lost food due to power outages or storm-related flooding may obtain replacement benefits as long as they meet criteria and fulfill certain requirements. SNAP Households have 10 days from the date of the incident to report a loss.
Our SNAP Replacement Benefit Toolkit is designed for community agencies working with SNAP clients in areas of the state affected by recent power outages and storm damage.

Information on the SNAP replacement criteria and requirements
outreach flyer for community organizations to use with affected households
the form to request benefits along with a cover page from Hunger Solutions New York

Power Outage - Medical Equipment

IMPORTANT!

There are some folks in our area that rely on oxygen and need electricity. If you or anyone in your family rely on any medical equipment that needs electricity, you need to contact Con Ed so they can restore your electric as soon as possible. now and in the event of future outages.
