On Friday morning May 28, I discovered the statue of the Blessed Mother in the Friary yard was knocked over and broken. As you walk up the steps on the 84th street side of the church this statue of the Blessed Mother is there to greet you as you are about to enter the church. This is a very old statue and has been in the yard for more than 30 years, it may even have been from the original church. Our friary yard is open for various ministry functions during the summer and warm weather months and this statue was such a nice part of the grounds. Many of our parishioners and other friends of St Adalbert found out about this incident through social media and want to help us restore the statue. There is a Go Fund Me account set up for this purpose and hope we can restore the statue soon. https://www.gofundme.com/help-restore-our-blessed-mother-statue Thank You for your generous donations. God Bless, Fr. Mirek Hi All,
Our community was hit with extensive vandalism over the past few days. In one case, large graffiti was scrawled on the LIE wall on 57th Avenue. A second incident occurred at St. Adalbert. A statue was knocked over and vases outside the church were broken. The latest incident occurred today at Elmhurst Park. I am not attaching one of the more offensive photos. Please folks, keep an eye out. If you see suspicious activity, call 911. You will not get in trouble if you are wrong. There's no telling what will be hit next! The 110th Precinct is on scene now and we have notified the 104th and 108th Precincts so they will be on alert. Stay safe!! Roe Daraio, President COMET Meeting
