Senator Gianaris: Any update regarding exits 18 & 19 on the LIE? LIRR fence down on the dead end of 52nd Avenue, a residential street, near 84-08. CSX tracks over Calamus & 51st Avenues - trains parked on overpass, people smell foul odors, the trestle on Calamus is rusting & eroding
Assemblyman Raga: Status with regard to broken lights on Maspeth Memorial Plaza
The City and State approved mobile car washes. They are blatantly disobeying regulations, stealing water from hydrants, some operating without permits, etc. The Water Board is looking to raise our rates but some "vendors" aren't paying anything!

Longtime COMET member Richie Polgar passed this along to us. We commend Richie and all the volunteers who help to keep our community clean and help the environment. Great job!

Here's what Richie said:
On May 4th Riverkeeper had volunteers clean up waterways in NYS.I worked with the Newtown Creek Alliance and cleaned up the shoreline in Maspeth.
Good to see kids from the Bronx HS of Science there as well as a nesting Canada Goose.

  *   For our May meeting, we will be joined by representatives from the NYC Office of Technology and Innovation who will be giving us a presentation and update on their Link5G (cell/internet towers) and LinkNYC kiosks program. They will go into the myths vs facts about the two systems and give an in-depth overview of their purpose and how New Yorkers can utilize and benefit from this tech infrastructure.
*   About Link5G: Link5G is LinkNYC’s second generation offering that will improve digital connectivity in New York City. Conceived in 2021 (the Year of 5G), Link5G enables the equitable deployment of both 5G cellular coverage and Wi-Fi connectivity across the five boroughs.
   *   About the Kiosks: LinkNYC is a communications network providing free high-speed public Wi-Fi in place of the city’s aging payphone infrastructure. Managed by DoITT, CityBridge, the franchisee, has LinkNYC kiosks (“Links”) throughout the five boroughs. Each Link provides Wi-Fi, nationwide calling, a dedicated 911 button, charging ports for mobile devices, and access to maps, 311, and other services.
