Liaison information

5/22/2018

UPDATE:

The response from DDC is the comment in italics below. If you get a "24-hour notice" and don't see "No Parking" signs, or have any questions, call the community liaison (CCL) to confirm.

The notice that Iva, the CCL, distributed, indicates a variety of locations that may be impacted – if that block will be impacted, Iva will provide a 24 hour confirmation notice.  You can also refer people to call her directly – 516-714-6431.  She has the latest information.

Map of affected homes

Hi All,

We want to thank Assemblyman Barnwell's office for reaching out to the resident engineer handling AEDA003 and asking him to give us the boundaries of this accelerated water/sewer project that is going on in the vicinity of 69th Street and other area streets. The attached map is hand-drawn but you can get an idea of who will be affected.

I received a call from a resident on 52nd Drive who stated that homeowners on her block received a notice telling them to shut their water off by 8:00 am this morning before the work commenced. She said she found it strange that no "No Parking" signs were posted nor was there any evidence of pipes or work vehicles parked in the immediate vicinity for today's job. However, she and her neighbors did turn off their water, waited and waited and no work was done nor was any notice distributed to tell folks the project was delayed.

The resident will reach out to Assemblyman Barnwell and Councilman Holden tomorrow morning. In the meantime, I reached out to the Department of Design and Construction (DDC) to find out why the work was delayed.

If anyone gets a notice telling them to turn off their water and don't see "No Parking" signs on the block, etc. contact your elected officials immediately. They can follow up to see if the work will be done as scheduled.

Hi All,

The Department of Design & Construction arranged to have notifications regarding the Accelerated Distribution Water Main Replacement & Rehabilitation Project in Maspeth forwarded to us for our information.

We will pass along updates as they are received.

You may want to avoid the streets being worked on to avoid traffic issues.

Have a nice weekend!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This attachment was just sent to me by CB5 and Assemblyman Barnwell's office. It was not included in the original information sent to me by the agency. I promised to keep everyone updated as new information comes in. If you're concerned about damages, my advice would be to take photos of your sidewalk, property, etc. in the event you need to file a claim. We can only hope this project is completed swiftly.

Emergency Water shutoff - 69th Street

5/16/2018

Hi All,

Assemblyman Brian Barnwell's office just sent the attached notification to us. Even though they are one of the buildings that will be impacted by the water shut down, they did not receive notice until about 3:30 pm this afternoon. Residents/Businesses should have been given 24-hour notice. None of us knew a construction project was going to start in Maspeth!

We were told residents on 69th Street and several other blocks just received notice that their water will be turned off tomorrow. The attachment will list the blocks being affected.

We have quite a few Asian residents living on 69th Street. Hopefully they can reach out to someone who can tell them what's going on.

At this point we don't know the extent of this project or how long it will take. If we get any updates we'll let you know ASAP.
