West Maspeth Robbery

3/25/2024

COMET heard the gas station on 61at Street/Flushing Avenue was robbed yesterday afternoon (Sunday).

We reached out to the 104th Precinct and got this response from Captain Chowdhury:

"The gas station wasn't robbed, but there was a robbery which occurred near the gas station. We are actively looking for the perpetrator. We recovered the item which was stolen. We have a strong possibility that the perpetrator will be apprehended. We have a good lead on the case."

Queens Bus Network Redesign - Upcoming Spring Outreach & Roundtable Follow up

3/21/2024

Hello Queens Civics and Stakeholders:

Thank you all so much to the Civic groups that attended the Queens Borough President Civic Roundtable last evening and provided the MTA Redesign Team with feedback regarding our bus route and bus stop proposals.  We encourage you to keep sharing your feedback directly with us but also with your elected representatives. We have heard from almost every elected office in Queens with feedback from their constituents on the Proposed Final Plan and we appreciate the engagement from elected officials on behalf of their communities.

In December 2023, the MTA released the next report in the Queens Bus Network Redesign initiative, the Proposed Final Plan. In this Plan we further refine the Queens bus network to address the needs of our stakeholders while balancing trade-offs and using network redesign strategies to achieve our customer priorities: Reliable Service, Faster Travel, Better Connections, and Simplified Service. We appreciate hearing from every corner of Queens and so much of the feedback we have received has been incorporated into each draft of the Redesign proposals.

For our next round of Spring outreach, we will be visiting key bus hub and transfer points around Queens. Here are the dates listed below:

Check out your proposed commute in the Future Trip Planner!
The routes shown in the Proposed Final Plan have been uploaded to the Future Trip Planner so people can get a sense of the routes they would be interested in and their average travel times.

The new routes will be available for preview via a trip planning tool that allows customers to input a start and end location and see an overview of their trip with the bus route changes in effect. After entering their trip information, customers can drag the start and end flags across the map and watch their options and routes shift in real time.

Enter your start and end locations to see which routes you might use!

Interactive network maps
We need your feedback! Use this interactive Remix map to view our proposed bus routes and stops in detail. Please provide comments using the "Post Comment" button on the top right of the page. Then click on the route that you would like to comment on.

Meeting Agenda:

  *   Joining us for our March monthly meeting will be representatives from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) who will give us the latest briefing on the Queens Bus Redesign proposal. They will go into the latest concept of the redesign, cover local and express routes, bus stops, and proposed time schedules.
  *   Please check out their project page: https://new.mta.info/project/queens-bus-network-redesign This has all of the resources available about The Final Proposed Plan including all of the route profiles, presentations that we have given publicly and translated documents for language access.
  *   A request from the MTA:
     *
Specifically, they invite community members to review the route profiles: https://new.mta.info/project/queens-bus-network-redesign/routes The route profiles contain information on what changes are being proposed for the routes themselves and specifically bus stop modifications that they are looking to make.
     *
They would like to hear specifics about what you like or would like to see changed for the routes and stops as they are still gathering feedback and listening to bus customers and community members about the Queens Bus Network Redesign. Please email me any specific routes you would like covered so the MTA can include them in their presentation, as soon as possible or latest by Friday, March 15th.

The full meeting agenda will be sent early next week.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out anytime!

Regards,

Tim

Migrant shelter coming to Maspeth Jewish Center

3/6/2024

The city has confirmed that a contract has been signed this afternoon, paving the way for migrants to be moved in as early as tomorrow.

I find this completely unacceptable. The community should always come first, not financial incentives. https://t.co/vAOUF2fZGi
