Agenda:
  • A representative from the Queens District Attorney's office will introduce herself.
  • The 104th, 108th and 110th Precincts will let us know what's been going on during December and January. Accidents involving pedestrians seems to be increasing. What measures can be taken at the locations to make them safer?
  • Assemblyman Raga's office will give us an update, if any, regarding work planned for the BQE that will hopefully address the serious flooding issue near Queens Boulevard.
  • Senator Gianairis' office has reached out to NYS DOT and asked that they look into accidents that have been occurring on the LIE at exits 18 and 19. Perhaps roadway markings or signage will make the strip safer.
  • Updates from our elected officials representatives.

110th Crime Prevention - Vehicle-related crimes in our area

1/23/2024

NOTE: These crimes occurred near the 104th and/or 108th Precinct borders so we all need to be aware. We will be working with our precincts on 4/20 to help with VIN Etching. We'll give you more info as the date approaches.

I just wanted to spread some information on some vehicle related crimes that have occurred recently in the 110 precinct south of Queens Boulevard.

First, there was a catalytic converter stolen from a Mitsubishi which was parked on Simonson Street between Grand Avenue and Queens Boulevard. This incident took place between 1/14-1/16. Some deterrents to catalytic converter theft may be having the catalytic converter painted or installing a catalytic converter protective cage.

Another incident was reported on 1/22 in which the owner of a Toyota left his keys in the car and the car was stolen near 87 Street and 57 Road. Obviously, it is not wise to leave keys in the vehicle. Vehicle theft deterrents may be utilizing the club, car alarms, air tags for tracking, and services from the NYPD such as Combat Auto Theft Program and VIN etching. I hope this update was informative and helpful. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions/concerns.

Respectfully,

Police Officer John Williams

One of our Elmhurst Block Captains called to let us know that DSNY was issuing $50 summonses to residents in the vicinity of Kneeland Avenue for putting their trash out too early last night.

We just want to let you know that they are enforcing the new regulations and don't want you to be caught off guard.

Queens Bus Network Redesign Project Update and Community Board Presentations

Hello Everyone,

In December, the MTA released the next report in the Queens Bus Network Redesign initiative, the Proposed Final Plan. In this Plan we further refine the Queens bus network to address the needs of our stakeholders while balancing trade-offs and using network redesign strategies to achieve our customer priorities: Reliable Service, Faster Travel, Better Connections, and Simplified Service.

In January and February, we will be presenting to all Queens community boards. Please visit your community board’s website or call the office for meeting details. You can also find more information and identify your community board here.

Check out your proposed commute in the Future Trip Planner!
The routes shown in the Proposed Final Plan have been uploaded to the Future Trip Planner so people can get a sense of the routes they would be interested in and their average travel times.

The new routes will be available for preview via a trip planning tool that allows customers to input a start and end location and see an overview of their trip with the bus route changes in effect. After entering their trip information, customers are able to drag the start and end flags across the map and watch their options and routes shift in real time.

Enter your start and end locations to see which routes you might use!
