This afternoon I received a recorded message from National Grid telling me to schedule an appointment to have my meter upgraded. I was skeptical because I had my meter replaced several years ago and none of my neighbors, who had their meters replaced the same time I did, mentioned they received a call so I decided to call National Grid.
I spoke with a representative and he checked my account and told me I've been receiving estimated bills since March, 2024 and if the call was from Precision Pipeline Solutions the call is legitimate. He said the battery probably died and the meter needs to be replaced. I plan to schedule an appointment.
The NYPD tells us there are scams about people going around saying your meter needs to be replaced so my advice is to call the company directly if something regarding your meter comes up. You don't want to be a victim.
