Just heard from a member that yesterday they stole all the wheels on an Escalade on 66 street and Jay Ave left it sitting on cinder blocks.  The victim may not have reported it.  See Captain Cody's response. Please pass this on to friends/family.  If you hear or see anything, call 911.  If you are a victim, please file a report!!!
___________

I have no record of a tire/rim from an Escalade at Jay Avenue
There is however one for an Escalade occurring on Juniper Boulevard South
I will ask my staff to follow up on the incident: if you get further in regards a report can be filed
Also if I may could I ask you to put out a Comet Alert regarding the return of tire/rim thefts as we have had 4 this week
I was at a civic in Ridgewood Thursday night and a citizen heard the sound of power tools on her block late at night and later discovered her neighbor lost his rims!
Please stress the timely call to 911 especially late at night!
And unfortunately I will not be able to make Monday's meeting as I have an early morning tour as well as preparation for an upcoming Compstat Meeting at One Police Plaza
Captain T will attend and if my schedule changes I will be there also-i really enjoy the meeting and feel bad about not being there-so if I can pop in I will but also a lot on my plate this upcoming week

Captain Cody, 104th Precinct, discussed rims/tires being stolen off cars citywide at the COP104 meeting tonight and offered a tip to deter this from happening.  He said a lot of the cars being targeted are Honda, Toyota Camry and Nissan but if you have expensive tires on any vehicle you could be a victim.   A good way to prevent the theft of tires and rims is to simply park close to the curb and angle your front wheels to the curb while parking.  This does not allow the perpetrators enough room to fit the tire iron between the curb and the lug nuts.  Obviously this will only help the prevent tires being stolen on one side of the vehicle, but losing only two tires is better than losing four.  Also consider purchasing locks for your tires.
